We will see how good a job ya did of that this weekend richie, I get to have a play with a 10/30 lucas on a nice size log...lol.. main trunk 12 meters dead straight 1 meter in diameter at the small end, I cut it into roughly 4 meter lengths sunday and cut a ship load of firewood. Gave my cheapy Baumr chainsaw a good run doing it, and honestly didn't even get the stihl out of the truck, the baumr paid for itself in the firewood it cut and docking the log into lengths was just a bonus. The log must be at least 50 inches through in some spots as the 25 inch bar wouldnt reach the middle...lol can't wait for the weekend

a fellow forum member who PM'd me a few months back, who lives about 30 minutes away. I am looking forward to it, I haven't played much with the lucasses, seen a few but never really had a chance to operate one. Will give me a bit better idea of what I should be looking at to suit what I want to do. There are many things I like about the band saw mills and things I don't and I reckon I will find the same with with the lucas.

The log, although it is not the biggest one I could probably line up it is a good one, I hope! I noticed a bit of heart rot the other day but due to the sheer size of the logs and the fact that i didn't have the tools to move the sections the other day, I am not sure just how bad it is, But I think it will not be too bad. at worst I might be able to sell enough firewood out of it to buy a mill...lol

    Default Say hi to Brian

Richie, sent your regards to Brian yesterday when i picked up some new blades. Myself and another guy who owns an LT40 petrol are playing around with gullet depths at the moment, will hand on the results. Also tried some of them new stellite blades, didnt do much for my but im continuing to experiment. Nice to know there is another bandsaw bandit hiding amongst all these swingbladers
