Glenn in the early days, a fella and I did a bit of cutting using my mill, he had a model 8, but we just used my model 6 - cutting 4x1, feedstock for floorboards. Anyway the point of the story, he was used to using his model 8 and a few times mentioned how easy it was to side shift my model 6 - at that time, I didn't have the sideshift winder fitted.

I used my model 6 for almost 2 years before Lucas came out with the sideshift model as we all know it today, but I tell you what, using it is a fantastic way of making the day that little bit easier. We all throw around a bit of weight in timber by the end of a day, and moving the naked model 6 is pretty easy, but you'll be happy as a pig in ........ after putting on a sideshift, especially at the end of the day when you have to pack up and slide the motor up into the back of your ute!!!! That's worth it just there!!

And yeah you all know how much of a fan I am of what Rex and Warren have done in making the Lucas, so I could be a bit biased, but it is a great bit of gear.
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
    Allan.

Pity you're not closer Glenn, I'd happily let you give mine a run to see what you thought, dunno maybe Lucas might let ya give one a run?? I'm sure if you told 'em how many fans they have here, you might be able to? or even a show day around you soon?
