I try to set an example by wearing the lot when ever I go near it or the chainsaw, I even wear my muffs on the tractor all the time now too.
His offsider who comes to help on some days started out wearing plugs & changed to muffs, he doesn't wear a hat or long sleves or long strides or work boots (just plain black shoes) but, the day after he got sunburnt, he wore sunscreen.Cliff.

Yeah true, she doesn't sound too bad a few metres away running full revs, but once you start cutting, the noise is much different

Great score my friend.
Store it so the mold doesn't effect it.

Hey Cliff, this log was it about 600 wide? Looks a nice peice. Does that Hylite 80 stop the spalting/bluestain occuring, or keep the bugs away?

The base part is wider that 600 & it was sort of oval so it was even deeper.
He got 8 slabs that are at least 50 - 55mm thick, one is 60mm thick.
3 of them are 850mm across the fored end.
Now that I have watched him for a while, I can see a few things that I would do different.
1. He has a lousy eye so all 8 of these slabs have a slight twist 'cos one corner of the mill was sitting higer than the other 3.
2. He should not have been so greedy in going for the widest possible slabe by cutting across the fork 'cos most of the slabs look like they will split down the middle. If he had cut them the other way, the slab would be narrower BUT, only one of them would have had the split through it.
The Hylite 80 is an antimould treatment. It is to stop the blue stain & it seems to be working.Cliff.

Point 1 is a bad mistake other than for a first time user of a Lucas.
Point 2 from a milling point of view, a fork is very difficult to stand up and keep upstanding given the force the chain has on it during milling, also slabs taken when it's lying down have the greatest chance of intricate grain patterns as the fork evolves from one into two trunks, but you also run the risks of having slabs which may split. I've found tight forks tend to split more than open forks.
I hope you didn't pay too much for slabs from a dodgy mill set-up?
I should have a look at the link you posted about the Hylite stuffI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

I didn't pay anything at all.
I paid to have the trees cut down 'cos they were too close to the house & shed.
I was going to have to pay somebody to move them 'cos at the time that they were cut down, nobody wanted them til this bloke came along.
He is cutting them up & taking the sawn timber & slabs & I am geting lots of turning blanks along the way.
I also got him to cut up a silky oak for me & I don't have to pay to get the logs removed.Cliff.
