Thread: Husky 3120 - biggest bar for slabbing?

I've got a 50" and an 84" for my 880. I haven't got it set up yet tho.

How does the saw run with a bar that size, or haven't you had the opportunity to test it?

Local sawmill I do work for has one of those and his standard bar is 60" and it is used day in and out and also occainsally gets fitted with a 96" bar with skip teeth and it handles both of these with no probs. I quite often borrow when I have to recover big logs when my 25" bar can't cut from both sides Big ballsy saw and can't see you having any probs with the bars you're considering.

My CSM has 50" rails, so I'm thinking at least a 50" bar (just over 4 ft) on the 3120...

My mate Hud has a 72" bar for his 3120.

A 3120 should run a 60" bar no worries.

Depending on how the saw is attached to the bar, for over ~50" bar lengths, bar sag becomes a problem.

Gee I love this place. Experience being shared, tips being give ,and all-round help and great photos of timber.

Looks like I've got some thinking to do about bar lengths, and thanks a heap BobL for referring me to your anti-sag device.

I run a 42" bar on my 3120 most of the time, but have a 60" bar for the bigger logs. The saw has no trouble running it, biggest problem is bar sag, as already mentioned.

An old mate of mine used to use his all the time with a 60", him and a mate of his used to team up for the real big logs, the had a double ender bar about 11 foot long, with a 3120 on each end.. I never saw this in action, but I did see some of the Raintree slabs that they cut, very impressive.
