    Default Is this to small?

    A husky 395XP with a 60" bar cutting redgum?Or do I hang out for a 3120 or MS880.I finally have a cast iron approval from my wife to get one.

    i dont have mutch experiance with huskys what ccs is that saw?

    i asume its 90 cc. should pull a 60"er alrigh but it wont be fast, no saw will be fast in redgum that big.

    Steve, you can do it withthe 395, but if th eboss has already said the 3120 is a goer do it!!! You'll find a use for her once you have her!!

    One factor to consider is how much milling using the full width of the bar you are going to actually do. If the majority of your cutting is in the 36 - 55" range then I would say a bigger engine will be worth having just to take the strain off the engine.

    If you are going to mill mainly below 36", then you are way better off buying a smaller bar and then 395 should be fine, plus it will be much lighter and easier to handle.

    I presume you have thought about what is needed to handle something as wide as a 55" wide slab, as a 2 x 55 x 96 " slab will weigh about 170 kg.

    Thanks for the input guys.I am leaning to the small saw because most of the gear to be milled will be around the 30" mark.I do have stuff for the larger bar but if i take it easy and time is on my side,then it should be OK.As for handling the slabs,thats the easy part,thanks to either Mr Jarrett or Mr Hiab.
