Hi all, can any of you boys explain or be able to post a photo of what a blackbutt tree looks like on your side of island. A neighbor up the road has some trees that kind of look like a blackbutt but I cant be sure

Blackbutt will generally have rough fiberous bark 1/2 way up the tree which disappears & the bark becomes smooth with a cream colour, the lower bark is normally grey / black in places even without fire damage. Large narrow leaves. In NSW nth coast stands grows tall, straight & dominate coastal ranges E, N, W slopes & ridge tops, but will also grow to within 1/2 km of the sea on coastal flats / ridges.

Eucalyptus pilularis - there's a couple of good pics if you google it. I would describe the wood as closer to white than a honey colour or somewhere between. Great timber.
    cheers
