Default Just as a thought on kilns

An idea has popped into my head fellas for those of you over in QLD that a good friend of mine who is a guru on kiln drying and kiln building is possibly moving to Ipswich in about a months time . I might be able to convince him into holding a workshop on kiln construction, be they solar or dehumidifier and drying techniques. My question is would a few of you guys over there be interested? He has worked in the kiln drying game for a long time and is very highly accredited. I worked with him on a large paulownia project here earlier this year and he knows his stuff. He showed me how to set up a steam chamber in a kiln to help to condition fast drying species and it blew me away. So i just thought i would put the idea out there and see if there was any interest. Cheers, Nev

Hes currently working in Melbourne for Boral Timber running kilns and has been given the option to move up to Ipswich to run their kilns up there. He thinks it would be good to get some small millers into kiln drying. Its just a matter of getting something organised and get permission from whoever it is hes working for to be able to show different kilns and how they function, so will keep you posted when something can be soughted

crikey nifty,if he's in melbourne i wouldn't mind catching up with him. i'd love to pick his brains so if we could organise something before he goes that would be great.i'd be happy to host it at my place, plenty of parking put on a barbie and a bit of cash thrown in if that's what it would take.

I'd be interested up here too

It's in my long term goals - have looked at the mob who specialize in solar units and thought they looked good.

Charlsie, I told him to visit this forum so i could prove there was interest in the idea, lets see what happens in the next couple of days.
Barnsey, im glad one of your long term goals is to have your own kiln one day but i bet it wont be one of those ones from the solar "Experts" if you look at the price tags on them Great kilns but $$$$$$$$

I dont know about their 50k 20 foot sea containers but they do have this supposed feature that you must have where can adjust whats going on in the kiln or monitor what is going on in it via the internet with your laptop from wherever you are. So you tell me, if im on a plane bound for Bali, do i give a rats lefty whats happening in there?
