Default Good-will leads to a new family member!

So I've been hunting for a Husky 3120 to use purely for slabbing. My 394xp has happily run a 42" bar, but I guess the desire to cut significantly larger slabs was just too strong!

I put a 'WANTED' add on a well-known Aussie classified site, and a terrific bloke from Roma, QLD, contacted me (thanks Andrew!) saying that his late-father had started slabbing just before getting sick. His Dad had two slabbing saws; a Stihl 880 and a Husky 3120.
Turns out he preferred the Stihl, so the Husky only got used a few times...

When I first saw the photos, I thought I was being taken for a ride; surely this saw isn't as good as it looks!

It's a one-owner, well cared for 2005 model, and it's absolutely spotless. Came with original manual, warranty card, spare OEM air filter and factory tools. Looks like it came straight off the shelf of the local store.

The best part? He let it go for $1,000 (which included postage to Bendigo VIC, and the best packing job I've ever seen). I've been hunting for awhile, and I've not seen a decent used 3120 for under $1,300.

The guy said that his Dad would be pleased to know the saw was going to someone who'd appreciate it and slab with it. He said he didn't want to sell the saw to "just anyone...".

I fired the beast up on the weekend, and apart from a minor carby tweak, this saw is amazing. It's even better in real life!

After testing the saw, I phoned the guy and offered my sincerest and most profuse thanks.

How often these days do we come across someone who isn't purely interested in the highest price for their gear?
How often do we find someone who wants to help out someone else with similar passions on a limited budget?

I quite literally couldn't thank him enough.

So enough of the talk; here's a couple of pics.

    Cheers Gents...

I have the same saw, it's been all right to me, however mine does have a couple of "issues" the black knob holding the air cleaner cover has a bit of a habit of undoing, from vibration I'd say, I have been happilly milling only to find I've been doing so without the air cleaner so make sure that stays tight, also can be a bit hard to start after a slab and been sitting for 10mins or so, possibly some sort of fuel vapour lock thing happening, doesn't happen all the time just when it's hot and on a hot day, I let it idle for a bit after a long slab and hasn't been such a problem.
