Not knowing anything at all about tree milling i thought i'd take a few pics of what i thought might be likely candidates for milling. The diamaters of the trees just above the base flare are around 400 - 500mm ( 16 - 20in for non metric)
I also have a good bit of Tas oak on the block as well as some myrtle & Sasafrass but i'm a dedecated tree lover & won't drop any live trees unless they pose a threat to life. The seception to this rule is the Silver wattle due to just how fast the grow & how quickly they tend to fall over. I think the main reason they fall over is the good old wattle grub which also happens to be excellent for fishing for trout - my other fav pastime so its a double bonus. The beauty with the the wattles on my block is that they are mostly all tall, straight & plentiful, hopefully perfect for milling.
Ravvin do u have a guess on how many trees would be worth doing in a day? I'll need to get them down & cleared around well before u get here. I think just cutting them into quarters will be enough for the milling, cut them into 3m lengths. I recon i should be able to manage that size on the bandsaw with feed tables on my own.
