Big log salvage starts again!
Hi all
It's that time of the year again that we sniff out a few twigs to salvage. Found a few good ones this week but only a few photos, as they are mostly on Krunchie's ipad. He will post a few up in the coming days.
One good log was nearly 1.5m through at the butt, 1.2 at the small end and 11m long, pure fiddleback with the heart way down low. Slabbing heaven! The photo below is of a 13 tonne stick we found. Just for proportion, that's a my CAT 25 tonner at full noise in the background, but still couldn't drag it. Had to cut it in half again at the bend just to lift it.
Hope you have all been making the sawdust fly!
Cheers
James

That's one hell of a stick there James, very impressive.
Dave,
hug the tree before you start the chainsaw.

There is an EX8000 (800 tonne) Hitachi on Grays at the moment. That should do it without too much strain.
