Who loves Lucas.....?
Here's why I love Lucas Mills...
as you know I've been doing a bit of cutting for Carl and others recently. I was down at Carl's all this week cutting various stuff. Late in the day Monday, my tailer (Sam) see while I'm sharpening the blade, one of my belts has quite a bad split in it
So I figure with daylight savings (now I know its over down there, but..) Lucas are closed for the day, also where we are milling phone service is frustratingly patchy at best Anyway Tuesday morning I find a spot where I can get txt messages through and I text Dudley from Lucas asking if he can send me some replacement belts, but to Carl's place as I'm not home. Well it turns out within the hour I have an email from Dudley saying the order has been dispatched and it arrives from bleeding Victoria to Carl's house in Wednesdays post!!!
How bleeding good is that?
It'd be good if more business in our great country focused on customers so much, rather than another recent example; I was in a 'homewares' shop (now no funny comments) about to buy my items, at the counter with payment at the ready, the lass workin there is on the phone, she says - and I quote "let me get rid of this customer and I'll call you back" Well unfortunately Al wasn't quite with it and I politely bought my items and left, then I realised I should have said well You've just got rid of me! and not givin the business my hard earned dollars!!
Very different hey?I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Believe it or not!
There are some good businesses out there that still thrive on customer service.
Well done the team at Lucas!
I ordered some pen kits from Timberbits (a forum sponsor) last Monday afternoon and they arrived on Tuesday morning. Good on you David!
I have also recently bought some stuff from an American supplier, Hardware Sales.com, that took 4 days from order to delivery.
It is good that we have this place to praise those businesses that provide good service.

If there was more people in this world like Dudley to deal with, life would be much easier.
The man actually cares about his customers needs ( and he has a soft spot for you Al).

How true is that!
My wife used to run a gift shop by herself some years ago. Consequently she was frequently "caught" on the phone when a customer came in. She had a stock phrase ready
" I'll have to go, a very important customer has just come in."
People respond well to being noticed.

In the same vein, a friend was at a restaurant with a small group of people. The girl waiting on the table received a call on her mobile phone as she was taking their orders. She answered it and started a conversation.
The friend grabbed the phone from her and told the caller,
"She's busy. She'll call you back."
He closed the phone, gave it back to the girl and proceeded to order his food.

Here's a bit more;
I was cutting out some split posts for Carl and dropped the engine to idle between logs as it was pretty quick between each log. On idle I hear this noise from the mill, sounds like a bad knocking, we check all manner of things and isolate it to one piston by disconnecting a plug lead and the noise stops, reconnect and it comes back.
I still had more cutting to do for Carl and also this week is booked solid with Carl possibly the week after. I don't want any engine issues anyway mobile phone service at Carl's place is terrible (he reckons he gets more work out of me that way though ) so Carl has this idea of recording the noise on our phones then sending it via text to Lucas. So we do. Bugger me if via text message of phone recording they don't identify the issue for me and a phone call later that day lets me know how to fix it. The next morning I'm up an running again. Just bloody greatI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Sorry Paul, forgot to mention what the prob was hey? DoH!
Well it turns out there are two little black plastic/nylon jet thing's on top of the carby, (under the air filter and couple of shrouds) these little guys needed a thin wire like from a wire bush or from inside a twist tie thing, to clean 'em out of fine sawdust once they where cleaned up and all put back together the noise was eliminated and all was goodI love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
