lucas throttle
Anyone know how to stop the throttle from slipping when screwing it on. Mines started letting go when screwing it. Had a bit of a look and couldn't work out how to get the knob/button off and didn't want too break something. Thought I'd try here first and try lucas if we don't get any where here. More redgum today.

Tim, give Dudley or Ian a ring at Lucas, they will set you on the right path.
Sorry, I've never used one of the models with that throttle setup.I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Sorry folks I meant to update so others can have the info. So I rang Lucas and guess what I've been doing it all wrong! You see I had no training and was winding the throttle out instead of pushing the red knob and then yanking it on. I didn't even pick it up on the training vid they sent me last time I had trouble. it turns out you're never to young to learn. I also found out there is an upgrade of this throttle which I reckon (considering I may have worn this one out) I will endevour to acquire . I reckon the side shift winder will be the way to go too. shifting it back and forth really plays havoc with the back.

Tim, the sideshift winder is certainly the go!!! Now I've used one for quite a while, I don't know what I ever did without one.
As a tip though, until ya get the winder, use the inside of your thigh up against your hand to help 'slide' the locking handle across, this will take the strain off ya back. Legs are meant to take a lot more punishment than backs.I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

The parts arrived sharpish-like and here we are 2 weeks later and still not fitted. Hopefully next week. Looking forward to using the side winder. All that back and forth is no good for my back. (even using the thigh)

Well just to finish the thread, I've fitted both the new throttle set up and traverse winder to the mill and after a day of milling I can honestly say: FABULOUS! I am very happy with both and love using the saw even more. It took all morning to break the habit of dragging the saw. If any one with a lucas hasn't got the hnad crank. It's worth the the money, which; by the way is very reasonable.Tim. A man of measurable mess.
