There are really only two aspects you must consider. The speed of your motor. It will probably be approx 2900rpm (2-pole) or it may be 1440rpm (4-pole). You should replace the motor with one of a similar speed even though the HP is increased.
Secondly, the physical size of the motor and the mounting holes. The size motor you can exchange will be dependent on the available space in your bandsaw cabinet. Also check that the motor shaft is the same otherwise you will have to buy a new pulley too.
All this information is available easily from the suppliers. Have a look on ebay to get some idea of the specifications. I have been through this exercise with lathes, but not bandsaws, so I can only explain the principles behind changing the motor.
There may be other considerations such as price etc.
Having said that I would suggest a 2HP motor (if everything fits). In theory you could go larger, but you may find that the saw construction is not strong enough for that.
