Stumps you say
Love the figure and colour.
Well worth the effort.
There is a massive dump site ( all timber ) approx 200 meters from my house.
It's approx 1/4 of an acre
Some of the roots are huge, maybe 8 to 10 feet in dia.
I think I need to investigate.
They all look like gum of some sorts.
I'll get some pics and see what you guys think.
Sorry to hijack your thread

Another Butterfly pair off the saw today...these pieces from a chunk of root that had crinkling like a potato chip...

This stump really has yielded some amazing looking timber. How do you anticipate it will be used and marketed by you. Where do you envisage the market will be?

A little late seeing this one, not sure how I missed it?
Few questions:
#1: How are you getting all the dirt off the rootball? And are you getting all of it, or just most before running a blade through it?
#2: What kind of mill you using?
They is no way I could get something like this on my Woodmizer! I'd have to carve it up with a chainsaw mill, and hope to get enough return on the useable wood to justify the loss in the shavings!
#3: How long does it take for a rootball slab to dry compared to 'normal' wood? Much difference? Air-drying?
