Having seen the said stump in the wood so to speak, I would have to say that it is the gift that keeps on, and keeps on giving.

I too have been treated to a special viewing. I think we may have snuck in before MM starts exacting a fee at the gate. This stump could be better even than an everlasting packet of Tim Tams. (When I think about it, I might have mentioned that before so disregard the comment if you wish.)

Even after all the timber already removed and posted on this thread, the stump is still the size of a small room and stands way taller than a man. I think it takes a miller with vision and one who is not phased by sharpening the chainsaw three or four times a tankful to tackle this job.

I really hope it pays off for all the time and effort.

    Regards
    Paul

Great meeting you the other day Paul...this has certainly been a labour of love...my vision was that the stump would be full of figure, and it is..probably underestimated the effort required to extract all the dirt from it though,it has taken a month of sundays to get it clean ...pleasure to mill and has given me a much greater respect for the humble mango tree

Interesting, I was just wandering by and saw a largish group of full grown men, looking, pointing, aahing and oohing. A large number of them were drooling. Some were silently shaking their heads and others seemed green with envy. Others were on their knees, either worshipping or begging, not sure which.

I wondered what it could mean, the second coming, maybe? a worthwhile government handout, free Lee Valley gift vouchers?

So I had to elbow my way through the crowd, sorry for the cracked rib, Wheelin. And for the crushed instep, Cliff.

Slowly, not unlike the opening scene from 2001 a space odyssey, I saw before me ... The STUMP in all its majestic glory

    ...

    MM

thanks for sharing the journey and those pieces you have posted so far can only be described as absolutely stunning
I'll keep watching with unfeigned interest

PS: I am now totally against stump grinding
