Marri bar top milling
About 10 months ago milled some 4.2 x 1.4/1.5 m flame marri slabs from a huge redgum that was struck by lightening for a mate.
Here is some more milled from the same huge redgum. Just a 3m section.
Just having fun using the dolmar 144, not my biggest saw. I just enjoy using it when the pressure is off milling for myself and friends rather than customers,
Original cut, admire my lovely bald spot. I need to make a better rail for curved logs, got abit of vibration at the end of this pass.

Start of the 2nd, bald spot now concealed under a cap.

Mates never tell ya when your in hanging out of your trousers. Curse those chainsaw chaps..

Aren't I a messy fella...

Stacked temporarily for the moment. Still need to seal ends. Mean pile of sawsdust too. 5 bar tops, top 2 for in the garden around bbq (when dry obviously).

I milled a curved one with my 076 back in 2009.
Not as curved as yours but it was still a fun one to to mill.

It's not a bad bald spot - smaller then mine anyway. I'm somewhat jealous of Bob... if I wore headgear like his I'd be in for a wicked dose of sunburn.

G'day Bob.
OK, now you have the logs cut, how do you go about getting it planed and / or sanded ready for finishing ?
colChucks are like potato chips....you can't have just one.

Bobl - I can order straight from my local caltex. Maybe that's a country town thing though
As for planing, router sled and a carbetec planing bit. These are a year plus off though.

Re sanding : if sanding a large number of slabs for feature walls etc a floor sander over side by side slabs on a flat concrete floor is very effective and cheaper than thicknessers and drum sanders etc
