    Default Matroyshka Tool Box

Why is it I never quite know where to place my threads? Is it a severe brain deficiency or do I just select obtuse topics? You don't have to answer that unless you really want to.

Anyhow in the end the purpose of this purchase was in tune with millers tying down their load and things seemed a little quiet on the timber milling forum so we've got it here, for now anyway.

I needed a place to store my ropes and tie down straps (and the jumper leads that are an integral part of every vehicle I own or have ever owned). Currently they were in a cardboard box, but as I had just finished a storage box for the back of the ute, I felt the common cardboard box was letting the side down.

So on a visit to Bunnies for another purpose I strolled down their toolbox section and spotted a box that seemed to be the right size. At $39.95 it was a little more expensive than the cardboard offering, but definitely upmarket. When I looked closer it was in fact four boxesall fitting inside one another. It reminded me of the Russian wood dolls (Matroyshka) and I found the whole idea appealing; Cute even.

The largest box is just large enough for my ropes and fits nicely inside of the storage box. I just need to find things to put in the other three boxes now.

The box quality is OK for this purpose but I would not want to put heavy objects in it.

    Regards
    Paul

Are you going to paint them to match the truck or paint the truck?

I have three boxes that I take everywhere it is nice to know where things are.

    That is a good find

I've got those for our emergency/survival kits. I worked with a lady from SES around the time of the Qld floods, and she was badgering everyone to do "Something" towards planning for emergencies, so we have one box per person, each with some water, food, knife, rope, glowsticks, toilet paper, matches, survival blanket, emergency poncho etc. etc.

The fluoro tops make them easy to spot.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they

Neither Steve. In fact the large one for the ropes just fits crossways inside the storage box right in the middle so it will not often see the light of day.

And yes I like to know where things are too: Well within 20m or so.

    Thanks Andrew

I now have a use for at least one of the smaller boxes. I just knew they'd come in handy.

    Fubar

Thanks. Ironbark. Originally they were tongue and groove boards I made up anticipatng I was going to buy a new one tonner. I was going to have a smart floor.

However, the Treasurer said I didn't want a new one! Actually she said I didn't wanrt one at all and that's how it was for quite a time and then my work car started playing up and this used one was virtually placed in front of me. The checker plate floor is just too good to rip up plus the 20mm T & G would not fit a tray designed for 3mm checkerplate floor.

Your points about UV stability are noted. To some extent I have to go with "you get what you pay for."
