    Default Milling a Marri log

    Hi all,

I've just had a large marri in my back yard cut down, and want to find someone to mill the timber. I've had advice to seal the ends with paint and will do this asap.

The top of the tree was dead, brittle and large branches looked diseased and were falling down daily, but the bottom of the trunk looks good. It measures 700mm x 2440mm, and is currently lying on brick paving. We would like to use the timber to build either a bench seat or bar.

I want to know if someone will come and mill this at my house in Kensington. There is access to the backyard through a garage, and there is probably enough space to work in. We are keen to make the most of this timber, but if it is going to cost a fortune it might not be possible.

I'm interested to know if this is a worthwhile project, and appreciate your advice.

    Cheers, Lisa

Went around and had a look and dropped off some end sealer. Nice little log, bit of a bend to it but I should be able to get something decent out of it. I don't think it's a marri but a WA river red gum. Targeting to do it on Good Friday.
