Default Newbie to forum and lucas mills which one

Hello everyone, my first post (actually 2nd, 1st didn't show) and trying to decide which Lucas to purchase. I've slabbed a few logs with an Alaskan mill and that's just too hard and slow for what I'm about to build. I have the logs and wanting to mill 10x10x4m posts and huge beams for a pergola. Do I save a bit with the 8/30 and take longer with milling or do I just bite the bullet and get the 10/30? There's plenty more milling I have planned eg, garage, addition to house, carport, and I'm almost positive I'll be milling for people around my area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks guys, Rick

g'day Rick and welcome to the forum mate

To be honest for the $2k difference there is a reason I went from a 6" mill to a 10" mill and didn't bother with the 8" - onto my 2nd 10" mill now, the EFI model and it is sweet as, very nice fuel savings

to do 10x10 posts on the model 8 isn't impossible, just a bunch more work to do it. I've done 350x350mm on my model 6, but if you are doing a fewof them the 10" mill will be much easier and more simple to get the post you need rather than try and get 10x10's from an 8.

Let us know how you go
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
    Allan.

As Sigidi says.... go with the 10".

Saving a little bit to make the work of cutting 10"x10" a whole lot harder is false economy.
