    Default Orange with envy

A couple of weeks back while my mill was in hospital I spent the day with my old mate Travis and got to play with his new Woodmizer LT70 DCS. All I can say is I gotta get me one of these, and with the exchange rate the way it is its really got me thinking. Its the biggest of the Woodmizer portable range and alot of fun

nice. makes me wish I had one.
I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.

Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.

They are made in Indianappolis USA, He shared a container with a guy who bought a resaw here in WA. One sawmill alone doesnt fill a container but would still cost you 7k, it cost me 8k for my 2 machines back in 07

    Nifty

Current pricing with the US dollar below parity makes that really attractive.

In 1997 my Bushmill cost around 24k. It included a week of training down in Vitoria, the Dinasaw profiler, transporter with brake controller, ten blades, 3500lb superwinch for loading and rotating logs and a 2m extension bed (giving 8m all up and a theoretical cutting length of 7.2m)

I later purchased the swing saw shuttle at a cost of another 9k.

I think that puts the Woodmizer very firmly into perspective 14 years later as an exceptionally good buy. Possibly the Timberking will be competitively priced too.

In addition they appear to offer a heap more grunt, more features and mechanisation for loading and log turning.

Actully this is where I d love to see you in the flesh Bushmiller because you had a fixed head bandmill where as the woodmizer has the canterlever head and your experience would be invaluble saying whats best so to speak because I think that basicly is the difference
between them and the TK looks heavier
    (please excuse spelling )

Spelling totally excused. In the flesh, I do better in a dim light.

I have never seen a Woodmizer in the flesh so I am not really able to offer an objective opinion. While I understand this fundamental difference between the two makes and lean towards the rigidity of the "four poster" I have to say that Woodmizer have been around for a long time and are very successful. So I imagine their format works very well too. perhaps I can get a look at a Woodmizer (and a Timber King) one day.

Or maybe even a go of one!

I just went trough a post on the forestry forum and found 60 to 12 in post of sawmillers an their mills I dont know how acurite that would be I d have to find sales figures and just quietly I dont think theyed give them to me I ve got as much tact as a brick going through a stained glass window. Maybe Mobilesawmill can bring a timberking to agtrend or to maleny wood show even the toowoomba show for us queenslanders same goes to woodmizers rep I know you ll be lurking here some where . Its good to see things in perspective but when I originaly started on this forum I wanted a lucas took a while an I got to have a day with one loved the concept of it but it was missing some thing then I spent some time with a WPF and I rate that extremely high Looking forward to spending time with a woodmizer next week 5 more sleeps I tried to get a go on a norwood during my Melb stop over but the fella selling them hasnt returned an email or phone call at all
