    Default Plain tree milling

    Hi all
    I have a what I believe is a plain tree ( English ) I have been told it is approx 400 dia at the base just wondering if they are worth keeping to get milled as it is coming down in the next day or so as it have got into storm water pipes etc and makes a bloody mess

    yes it is worth keeping. I believe the quarter sawn timber shows a pattern called the lacewood effect. Do a search for lacewood images and you will see what I mean.

    Mine is not quit that big but I think that they are big enough to get some nice timber out of
    Also have access to the neighbors two that he is cutting downs as well and they are slightly larger so hopefully they will come up good
    Just go to find someone to mill them up

    ring matt at treeforce swanhill and he might be able to get it milled for you

    will have to ask him Tommorrow as he is the one cutting them down
    wont take to much to find someone imam sure there are a few around I believe

    Beign 400 at the butt, means a very small log, quartersawing will be terribly inefficient for that size - good luck
