    Default Pretty Paulownia

    Scored 3 old Paulownias the other day that were growing too close to a local Homestead...and started milling straight away...absolutely beautiful stuff...displays many colours and has nice fiddleback too....the boards pictured are quarter sawn...MM

    Well THAT should be a bit better on the old back - better than lugging all that hardwood around!

    Here's a cross cut slab i milled a few days ago...this timber seasons at a remarkable rate with very little degrade...MM

    Fortunaie or Tormentosa? Was it a backyard log because for paulonia the\at tree did it hard in its younger days

    It was a backyard tree that had most likely done it tough during its growing years...it was growing in fairly hard ground ...not sure of the species though...MM

    From the photos in the original post it doesn't look like a Fortunaie. I don't know what the bark on the other species look like so can't identify this tree.
