    Default qualities of satinash

a friend nearby has what's believed to be a red apple tree, ie;syzygium ingens. its base is 50cm but within a metre and half its 40cm then tapering slowly to its 13m length.(sizes are guestimates) i have been trying to find out its uses but apart from 1 site saying fenceposts and my friend being told its for cabinet timber i have found no other info.
so, to slab it, mill it or leave it alone.

anyone had experience with this timber?

Not the best for fence posts as doesn't perform well in ground (class 3)
    Sapwood suseptable to borer attack.
    Used for furniture and flooring.

At 50cm-30cm wide, guessing the sap margin would be generous, that variable alone could be a determing factor as to whether it is worth milling...

The sawmill at Walcha sold "Satinash" when they were operating. A furniture maker in town used it as a Tas Oak look alike substitute. He could buy better sizes from them that suited some of his projects. I was there one day and asked him where he was able to get such large sections of Tas Oak and that was when he told me about Satinash
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod
