Price on second hand 034av
Have been looking at a second hand 034av for occasional slabbing, looks in very good condition and runs well , it has a 20" bar which l will upgrade to a 28 or 30" would $500 be a good general price for this type of saw.

I wouldn't call myself a CS expert but something you need to find out first is; which model 034 is it?
If you look here you will see there are two 034 models. The first 034s were 56 cc and were released in 1984, and they were upgraded in 1993 to 62 cc. If it was the 56cc model, $500 is definitely too much. If it was a 62cc model it would have to be in top condition and even then given you want to buy a bigger bar for it I would be offering something less.
I'm not sure if you intend to mill with it but if it's the 56cc I wouldn't be putting a 30" bar on it and milling big/long logs with it, as it is too small a saw. With the 62 cc, a 30" bar is marginal and I'd be looking at a 75cc+ (preferably 90cc) powerhead. Both the 56 and 62 cc saws will mill small stuff just fine using a short bar and something like pico chain. I have a 54 cc saw that I use with a 20" bar (17" cut) with pico chain which I use to mill small short logs. It has milled dozens of small logs and is still going strong

i run a 25" bar on mine doing a 23" cut no problems i use single kip stihl chain. briliant little saws.
if you dont want it let me know and ill take it.
