MM, you can see the chain has dug into the nose of the bar, normally, like Bob said the chain rides on the sprocket teeth rather than the chain. I'm concerned with how the paint has got so hot its burnt as much as it has. And yeah the bars are solid nosed so ya can't replace the tip. BUT!!!! have you ever seen one of these....

A chap in the U.S. chucked one on his slabbing bar, might get you out of buying a new bar? but getting a new bar would be the easiest, simplest solution.I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Didn't take pics before i returned them...they were 27rx alright, but the cutters were out of sequence, when compared to the Lucas chain..They had one cutter all alone by itself ..they buggered up big time.Little wonder it didn't want to cut properlyand smoked like a Rasta Man ..Since the chains were possibly compromised(stretched, worn on one side of the dog teeth),i said no to their offer of a fix up job.The lesson here,DON'T PURCHASE YOUR NEW CHAIN(S) FROM ANYONE EXCEPT LUCAS!!I had a torrid time convincing the store owner and employees, that they stuffed up..they admitted the chains were different, even got them to ring Oregon, who seemed to agree something was amiss (i think they joined a few chains together,as the Lucas chain is straight off the roll),but they wouldn't ring Lucas. They made me out to be the Villain ..only the steam coming out of my ears made them reconsider their stance..not a good experience at all ..MM

Sounds like a high order cock up.
What are you going to do with the old bar?
