    MM, you can see the chain has dug into the nose of the bar, normally, like Bob said the chain rides on the sprocket teeth rather than the chain. I'm concerned with how the paint has got so hot its burnt as much as it has. And yeah the bars are solid nosed so ya can't replace the tip. BUT!!!! have you ever seen one of these....

    A chap in the U.S. chucked one on his slabbing bar,might get you out of buying a new bar? but getting a new bar would be the easiest,simplest solution.

    Good onya mate, when the new one arrives, put it under the old one and compare the two fella in the U.S. did and the wear on his old bar was just wicked

    Finances wouldn't allow me to buy a new bar,however,have ordered this part,along with 2 chains..hopefully i will wrap the job up around Christmas.Thanks to Alan and Bob for all their help and advice..cheers lads..MM

    Just out of interest how much is a new bar? Pleased you should be back up and running and can get through what you need and no worries at all about any kind help, anytime

    A new bar is $550 plus freight..the replacement nose,depth guage and 2 chains were $400 alone (lucas to their credit have the cheapest chains by far,and their service was brilliant)..MM

    O.K..retro fitted new nose for the bar,and dressed it(bar) as well..2 new chains(again)..off now to put everything together and hoping i can make some sawdust..will report back later this arvo ..MM

    Just compared the Lucas chains with the ones i bought a few weeks ago...they are COMPLETELY different ...going to be fun returning them..thank god for Lucas..MM

    Didn't take pics before i returned them...they were 27rx alright,but the cutters were out of sequence,when compared to the Lucas chain..They had one cutter all alone by itself ..they buggered up big time.Little wonder it didn't want to cut properlyand smoked like a Rasta Man ..Since the chains were possibly compromised(stretched,worn on one side of the dog teeth),i said no to their offer of a fix up job.The lesson here,DON'T PURCHASE YOUR NEW CHAIN(S) FROM ANYONE EXCEPT LUCAS!!I had a torrid time convincing the store owner and employees,that they stuffed up..they admitted the chains were different,even got them to ring Oregon,who seemed to agree something was amiss (i think they joined a few chains together,as the Lucas chain is straight off the roll),but they wouldn't ring Lucas.They made me out to be the Villain ..only the steam coming out of my ears made them reconsider their stance..not a good experience at all ..MM

    Had it dressed,and slotted new nose on it..seems to be good as new now ..MM
