Here's the 880 bolting arrangement. BIL is busy so no clutch cover for another couple of weekends.

Default Milling clutch cover for the 880

Finally managed to nail down my BIL to weld up the clutch cover for the 880/BIL mill setup and this what we came up with.

The cover is made from 2 pieces of 2 mm ally plate TIG welded together. In behind there is a fairly chunky TIG weld.

Cover attaches to mill with 2 x 6 mm Allen bolts and a 4 mm torx attaching to a 4 mm thread that holds the plastic chain brake cover in place.

Because the cover has to be removable to change the chain, I did not want to be constantly removing the torx bolt attaching to the chain brake cover. Constant removal means wear and tear and before long the thread is stuffed. This is why I used a stand off and the clutch cover attaches to that. If that thread wears out I can retap to 6 mm.

Now just a couple more tanks of mix through the saw and I can start milling!

Actually it's not that shiney - it's pretty rough when you have a close up look. A bit of shine helps it clean up from baked on oily sawdust etc

Your welding certainly looks better than mine (although I have never done Aly).

Yeah - thanks to BIL! My welding is still stuck in turkey poo (2 up from cockey and one up from chook poo) class.

Default More fruit than a fruit salad!

I did this a couple of weeks ago and forgot to post it.

I've made one before but not quite in as easy a manner as this. The bracket is taken from the front alloy duralier of a bicycle and I have just bolted a rectangle of 6 mm ally plate onto that, and then bolted the tacho onto the plate.

The bracket is easily removed to transfer to another saw and fits most wrap handles. Very useful for tuning and looking at RPMs in the cut. You know how you always need than 3rd hand when doing this. In this case this is a milling saw so that's why it's on the side of the wrap handle, as this becomes the top when the saw is in the mill. For regular saw tuning the bracket can clamp on the top or other side.
