[quote=texx;944066]yep that will require a big transformer .

Transformer is big enough but I have run into a snag with the motor starter.
The sparky has given the old auot-tranformer starter the thumbs down. Luckily I have another star delta starter that we can use.

I had to extend an existing trench in the shed to fit the bottom wheel. The saw is now in place and the sparky has ordered the 6 core 50 amp cable to run from the switch board to the motor. The starter will be mounted close to the board and a set of control wires run to a switch on the saw.

    Not long to go now.

    cheers
    Steve

    Default Up and running

It's a goer. I put a couple of boards through but decided I should fit the guards before getting too excited.
    I will now order a couple of saws - 6 inch 18 guage, 8.1m long with 70mm pitch $693ea.
Only problem I see so far is that I will have to get someone to tail out. I was able to operate my old pto driven bench on my own. I also fed the wood into the old bench at a rate that didn't make the tractor work to hard. When I pushed a 6" board into the robinson resaw there was no change in the sound. Might take some getting used to.

    cheers
    Steve

It does have a power feed unit but this limits the size of the timber that will feet between the feed and the fence I have removed it for the time being. It takes about 1 hr to put back on.
The plan was to use it for edging wide slabs as well as resawing flitches. The power feed hob is great for the resawing part as it is hard to hold timber against the fence without it.

I'll see how it goes. Thanks for the offer. Once I get to know it a bit better I will have plenty of questions.

Attached is a picture of some "red"ish blackwood that I slabbed last week.

    cheers

    Hi Steve ,
13 years after you posted this I have found myself in the same position having just bought a Robinson 54” bandsaw and 4 sided Moulder to Resaw. So I’m looking for some advice on how to set up this beast .

He hasn't been on this site since last July. Hopefully someone knows him and will alert him.
