NO sawdust.......yet anyway
Ok as promised I was going to start a thread on a slabber project. The thoughts have been mulling in my head for a LOOONNNGGG time. One of the main problems I have faced is the fact that raising a young family and such the funding for my hobby has been fairly minimal, so a new motor has really been out of reach for the project and I have had to prioritise what equipment has been more essential (new chainsaw gobbled up the hobby funds for last year.) So I have managed to scrounge a couple of 8 horse briggs and stratton vertical shaft motors, one complete, one good for parts to make a goer of the other one. They are electric start motors but at the moment the starter is absent however the bloke I got them off of is going to chase the starter for me. So at the moment it might not look like much but it is a start. Over the next few weeks I will try to amass the steel and such that I need and try to find a centrifugal clutch and such to make it doable. Any how no pics means it didn't happen right so check em out below.

Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.

Gotta start somewhere and a couple of scrounged motors is a start, I assume you'll pull them apart an give the good one a rebuild

What size bar are you hoping to run with these motors? Lucas standard slabber is 1500mm but they use a 16HP motor to drive it.

Planning on about 42 inch (1065mm) bar with approx 39 inch (990 mm) maximum cut at this stage. I figure that if a ms660 magnum can drive that with about 7.6 hp an 8 hp four stroke should be able to. Will make it so that I can upgrade to a bigger bar and motor at a later date as funds permit.
