Default Setting up my new Lucas Mill 10-30

So I finally rationalised the purchase of a Lucas Mill and took a drive down to Wooragee VIC to pickup the mighty machine directly from the Lucas Mill facility. I got the biggest mill available - the 10" x 30hp model, complete with slabbing attachment and planing head. Spent the weekend setting it up in its permanent position and will shortly be ready to make some saw dust.

A skillion roof off the back of that shed will be the best investment you ever made. A Lucas is not cheap and will retain it's value if kept in good nick. A rusted, sun bleached old plodder doesn't have the same appeal. Also nice to be able to work in any weather. Congrats on the purchase. Enjoy.

Yes, thanks Rusty. That is exactly the intention, and its a sort of a chicken and the egg thing. I would have built the skillion roof before I brought the mill home, but I needed it set up because I already have several large & straight pine trees which blew down on the property several years ago. The timber is perfect, and I will mill the beams, rafters & battens out of these for a big skillion - 18m x 12m. I prepared the area so that the Lucas Mill "shed" will have access to the main shed, electricity, lighting, water and security cameras etc. You can see that I have already erected the timber racks at the back of the shed in anticipation of some big hauls.

    Oooooohhhhhh a new Lucas Mill!!!!!
Hopefully we can look forward to many posts on the timbers you mill.
Always been a dream of mine to own a Lucas. I shall live my life through your milling, please don't disappoint me.
Hard work though, heavy logs, big slabs, storing them, waiting for them to crack, warp and be bug infested, then machined into wonderthing things
Well Done and congrats on your purchase
    Sincerely
    Willy

Well done Hardenfast, you will have years of fun. But beware, the Lucas Mill is just the start of it. As the logs get bigger, then comes a bigger loader, then......it never ends...trust me. On the flip side, big logs is a great problem to have!
