Good work Andrew, keep the pics coming. Love the Cedar.
I've found that the most suitable way for arranging pics in a post is to upload them to an album, then click on each pic in turn, scroll down to the BB Code, copy it, and then paste it into the thread wherever you want. It will also be displayed full size in that position.

Thanks FF I'll give it a try.
DJ Thats some stump. Don't think my 25" bar would cut the mustard on that one.
Cutting a trunk reveals some nice timber, but a stump is something else.
So much work for such a small gain though. And lots of head scratching figuring out how to cut it.
On the good side, it keeps me out of the pub

I had another go at the mango stumo today.
Although there are no rocks at all there is quite a build up of clay in the root system.
Got nearly to the bottom on the next cut but the chainsaw only needs to touch the clay and it's blunt. So after sharpeneing 3 times i decided to scull drag it home to give it a wash. The clay is so dense that the hose will only wet it about a quarter of an inch deep, then you have to chip it away and hose again. I'll go and get the gerni from work tomorrow and give it a blasting.
From what I can see after a good hosing it seems to be spalted all the way through. And the roots are curly.
More to come, can't let it beat me.
Cheers
Andrew

This was the punky side of the log, so I'm thinking and hoping that the bluing will be gone when I get this next slab off.
The cut after this one will incorporate the first of the root ball, so should look interesting.
Spalted curly root ball, I hope.
Time will tell.

Well, spent most of the afternoon gerni-ing (spelling) the root ball.
Definately an experience I don't want to have again soon. Should have put on my swimmers and diving mask.
Sorry no more progress than that, the drive sprocket on the chainsaw is so worn it keeps jamming.
Back soon
Andrew

cedar burl
Part for chainsaw not in till Wed, so back to cedar stumps.
Took a small chunk of log/burl to work to cut on the bandsaw.
Again wish I had got it about 10 years earlier, but at least I'm on the right track. Now I know what to look for. I think.
Might have to take another piece in tomorrow.
