Spits an giggles on flea bay
I ve been looking at portable mills an saws for a bit now and every now and then. You find some thing that makes you really wonder. And today spending yet again more quality time on the internet due to rain (had an inch an a half already), I find this dreamer on flea
bay
Chainsaw Baumer AGPRO never used. 62cc 22in.cutter bar. - eBay Chainsaws, Outdoor Power Equipment, Gardening, Home. (end time 31-Jul-10 22:15:00 AEST)
I d have not worried about this however I brought the same model from a shop on fleabay for $108 including postage. It did what I wanted and enabled me to buy a better saw, and so the upgrade cycle begain.
I wish there was a way to heckle this fella trying to sell this

Why, it did the job much better than an absent saw? I have a 2 of these, not great saws but cheap and will cut what I want. not everyone can afford $1600 for a Stihl. If i get a couple of years out of them they will have paid for them selves. I probably wont last that long. Wouldn't surprise me if the stihls are made in China now. even holdens are made in korea now.
I am learning, slowley.

I have to admit I was very lucky when I started milling as I had a friend on hand who put me onto my 372XP, fantastic saw and has done everything I have wanted it to from day 1 to now and beyond
I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
Allan.

Yeh Itposs, it is a tad exxy, and it is a shame people with experience cant buzz him and tell him just that. No some people cant afford Stihls or Huskys, but one day you will and it will be like being 5 years old again on Christmas day. I remember getting my first job at a sawmill as a log docker, I even bought along my husky *(smallish and cant remember the model), the mill owner hated the sound of huskys and handed me a new 042. After a while he said to me that i used it better than he could probably so he said, "merry Christmas" and i was 5 years old again

I can safely say, being that I own one, that they are only slightly better than an absent saw. in 6 months of owning one I have done more maintenance just keeping it running than on all of the other saws I have ever had in the last 20 years and it has done a shipload less work than any of them. they really are pieces of rubbish and they should be banned from being sold until the serious safety and performance issues that they have are addressed by the manufacturer and seller.
As for the dig about stihls being made in china, yes they are and have been for a long time, but they are built to a much higher level than the pieces of rubbish that are being pumped out on ebay for a few dollars. as for the quality of the stihl goods being made in china I can almost guarantee that anyone who has a "bulletproof" 034 will find it is made in china, myself included, and mine is nudging 19 years old and has worked hard all of its life. How do I know you ask? Look at the serial number stamped on your saw if it is chinese it will have a "4" as the first number. just like husqvarna and 99.999% of all companies, Stihl too has farmed out manufacturing to many places all over the world including mexico, brazil, china, the US, canada and australia just to mention a few. so anyone who tells you they just bought an all german stihl or a swedish husky or a german dolmar may be in for a shock when they learn the truth. but they will still not even be relatively compareable to the pieces of rubbish sold on ebay by a number of random sellers.
As I have said before buyer beware when it comes to the saws you see on the aforementioned, they may look like a bargain but they are not. I have also noticed that bunnings and the like are selling saws made by the same companies on the same dies etc. but in different colours, I strongly advise against buying these also as they will have the same issues as the ebay saws.!!!!!I am told that sharpening handsaws is a dying art.... this must mean I am an artisan.
Get your handsaws sharpened properly to the highest possible standard, the only way they should be done, BY HAND, BY ME!!! I only accept perfection in any saw I sharpen.
