Stihl 048 chainsaw
Would anyone have one lying around that they are no longer using?
More specifically I am after the air filter, which Stihl no longer carry as a spare part, and there is no aftermarket equivalent yet that I have been able to find.
Mine is just about kaput. Before I go down the path of covering it with stocking and trying to get a bit more life out of it, and possible stuffing it completely, it would be nice to have a backup just in case.
Thanks.

Would it be the same as the 032AV the early Farmboss so Im told? as mine is in ebay and ends in 15 hours. More to help than get a sale as I have 32 people watching. I am only selling it because of the parts issue or rather lack of so your thread struck a nerve of sympathy with me.
I just bought a MS211 yesterday and I am very impressed and happy because its so light. Still will miss the grunt.

Geoff, I had a similar problem with my 076, although I'm told there are after market parts available overseas. I went online and found the email addresses of all my local stihl dealers/agents. Then I sent out a bulk email and I found 3 filters in stock at a small dealership on the outskirts of the city!

Thanks for the replies.
I have found a second hand one in USA, waiting on a reply currently.
Bob, I have phoned all the local Stihl dealers, none have any, or are able to source aftermarket ones yet.
Will try the email idea on a larger scale, we only have about 8 dealers within 200km.

Bob, yes it was ebay.
I would prefer a new one, I don;t know how old the one in it is, I have had the saw for 15yrs and never changed it, so a new one should just about see me out.

Hi Les, I was able to source one today.
I went to the Stihl Australia website, did a dealer search for 200km radius of Melbourne and started emailing them.
I sent about 15 emails and within 1/2 hr had 4 replies, only 1 place had any, and he only had one. It will be posted to me tomorrow.
The original part number is 11171201611 if that helps.
Try a search using those parameters around you capital city and see what happens. Surely someone else has one left in stock.

Try Ken Rodda at Daylesford - 30/6 changfed contact details.
Ken had both Husky & Stihl dealership, Ken has sold out but all the stock/spares were bought with the business. Not long ago i bought some McColluch bits from them so you never know.
