    Default Stihl Flywheel removal

I am replacing the cylinder and piston on a blown MS260, and thought that while i had the head off, I would strip it down for a good clean
Trying to get a flywheel off I but cant' see if is a left hand thread or not. Does anyone know off the top of their head.

Second question, can I get the flywheel off without a puller?

pack cylinder with string. to hold crank from turing.

im pretty sure its counterclockwise to undoo it. but its been a wile.

once u have nut off. put it back on so its flush with end of shft but still away from flywheel

put screwdriver under cach side of flywheek and tap shaft/nut while levering on screwdrivers (you need 4 hands for this) comes of easily.

nut on flywheel will be extreamly tight i had to hammer and of plug sanner to get it off. if it dosent go one way try teh other.

It is counter clockwise to undo. String is a good idea as a piston stop. Avoid scewdriver in flywheel fins. Avoid same levering FW off, but if you must, just one side and hit FW with soft face on the opposite. I preffer to take nut and washer off, put nut back on to stop thread swelling, and hit centre punch onto shaft end, with a sharp rap. Bit of a handful to hold flywheel and punch but it can be done. Lastly (and by now you've probably pulled it apart and reassembled) but I think you'll be disappointed with what you find under there for the effort. Unless replacing the seal I would avoid disturbing it.

Thanks for that advice guys. I probably wont bother. Rest of the saw is mighty dirty with caked crud, but as long as nothing is stopping the magneto working, I guess it is safe to leave it dirty.
