We just use the 19mm metal strap, but not the black stuff, we use the zinc coated stuff to protect against stain

I don't use strapping either, instead,i place boards at bottom and middle of stack and turning blanks and heavy flitches on top of them.Because i quarter- saw most of my boards,i don't really have a problem with movement anyway...MM

Default Another way to weight a stack

I've got a friend of a friend who runs a commercial laundry... nursing homes, restaurants, that kind of thing. He used to keep me supplied with 20L plastic drums (they go through a lot of detergent). They make a handy weight when you have enough of them... stack well, handle on top to swing them around, and at 20kg a pop when full of water they can be manhandled individually but combined add up to a fair amount of weight quite fast.
Not everyone has access to a forklift to lift heavy blocks or multiple packs on top of each other, but empty 20L drums are quite easy to source.
