Stuff we use and abuse
There's no where to really post this but It seems I hijacked Bushmiller's thread (Bandsawing a Spotted Gum). Which, by the way was very informative. Anyhow, I think it seemed to provike a little interest so I thought it might be fun to see what else other people have got in the way of interesting stuff that they use along with their mills for pushin', liftin', pullin', rollin', splittin' etceterah, etceterah and etceterah. Here are some pic's of one of my old Fordson, rusting away, no brakes only running on 3 cylinders I think #4 has been removed, absolute 0 compression. I love her. she never lets me down still powers along with a 7' slasher and drags anything. My Fordson 14-06-13 (1).jpgMy Fordson 14-06-13 (3).jpgMy Fordson 05-03-10 (8).jpg
In case you didn't work it out I love old stuff and junk. Not that any of your stuff is junk ofcourse.

She's a beauty! Mid 50's vintage I think. We had one of the same model in the 1980s except the paint job wasn't as good as yours! Ours was faded yellow over the original blue though it wasn't the industrial model. Had an under axle blade but needed a 44 gal drum full of cement on the 3pl ripper to make it a bit easier to steer. No glow plugs but never needed ether to start it even in frost. Our new small diesel car needs a preheat even if it's only 5 mins since it's been running! Not sure if it's true but my father thought that the same diesel motor powered the first diesel truck - a Thames Trader. Cheers

Here is a picture of my old Fergy. I found it in Pieces in a dump. Its a FE35 petrol with Inter B414 Wheels on the Back( I couldn't find the Fergy Rims). The Bonnet and Radiator are from a later Massey Ferguson. She still runs well.

Here's another useful item of mechanical assistance I have. It's a 5 tonne Yanma and ever so handy. It digs holes too! Who could ask for more?

OK Tim some pictures for your amusement as promised. Firstly Max the 624 International tractor, whose radiator (from a Ford D5000 truck) expired the day after these pix were taken:
machinery 002.jpgmachinery 001.jpg
The winch on the front is a manual 5 Ton Dawn, which was linked to a large boom crane attached to the 3PL. I used it mainly when building the house to lift heavy timber ridge beams into place.
The second disaster area is my old International TD18 bulldozer. It's a might beast and in it's day (1950 ) was the largest crawler made. Two unsilenced exhausts leap from the bonnet of a 691 cu in diesel. Not quite as loud as you might expect, but certainly hearing protection is required. I think it produced about 105HP and with the blade attached weighed in at 17.5 tons.
You may be able to see the ripper attachment I made up for the rear. It comprises a reinforced concrete slab weighing about a ton. I had been ripping the ground for a tree line when the track chain broke on me. I buried the blade half into the road before I twigged (sorry for the pun) what had happened.
Although I have sourced replacement track, I have not got around to buying it. So it has been there on the side of the road for about ten years as you can see from the tree growing between the machine and the ripper.
The TD18 had a full set of spark plugs as it is started on a petrol cycle and once warm a valve in the head is shut, which increases the compression ratio, and the fuel is switched over to diesel. A diesel with spark pugs and a carburettor normally gets the buffs buzzing .

I think it now needs a new seat too .
