The only dust I'm making these days is metal dust while I'm still lining my new shed. Lots of angle grinder and thin kerf blades being used. Wood dust is some weeks away at the minimum.

If it doesn't rain this weekend I will be testing some of my mill mods on a bit of Gum. Not sure what typ as the local tree man couldn't remember where they came from. They are good blokes to get in good with for a bit of timber.
BobL some of the ideas have come from your rail mill so I hope you don't mind. I will try to get some mod pics up before this weekend but....... Time will tell.
Also seeing as there is not much happening in the way of milling, if anyone could help me with the identity of this tree. I know there may not be much detail in the photos but any help would be appreciated. It sounds solid as a hit with the back of the axe gave a dull thud. The top where it forks out is solid but I haven't cut down the bottom yet. A mate is going to pick it up for me it the truck next time he is going through. From the base to the top (where it starts to branch out) is 10m and 900mm through at the base.

Well, I've been making plenty of dust, but sadly, only to get rid of my remaining logs before the move. There are still quite a few in stock and they're going to anyone who wants them. All hardwoods, including ironbark, spotty, FRG. Take them away and they're yours. Any that aren't either cut or taken by Monday next week will be burnt.
Cheers,
Craig

Gday
I have only done about 10m3sawn of ironbark this month and have another 4m3 of sugar gum to saw on sat debating weather to buy in a couple of loads of Pine to saw sleepers out off But will most likely do a 1 &1/2 story chinked Log shell out of 8.5 meter 10x6 s of the 10 Lucas as I reckon id rather get $1300 a cube than $260 m3 for gos pine
But Im flat out making chips and shavings on the new Round Master Log building Line put about 40 cube through that in the last four weeks and we are half way though the log work on the first place we have used it on now I tell you its a hell of a lot different than doing a hand crafted one
Carl is Flatout he has about 250 ton of Ironbark logs stacked in the mill yard rite now and plenty going on I think he said his lead times about 4 weeks for orders atm I'll most likely be sending him a couple semi load orders this week also .
He spends alot of time over at the FF thats how I met Him so he is still gettn the hers in on the comp !

Chris whats the round log thing your talking about are you building log cabins ?
Lucas is a dirty word for me atm.
I never relized just how into the timber industry you guys all are till I met Allen
but the fire has been fueled I am no longer looking a CHEAP way in or a cheap mill to flog off to
hobbyists. Looking forward to posting pics in the next 4-6 weeks

I'm still making sawdust. Even travelled down to the big smoke the other week to cut this oak up.
