You could panic and run around with your hands in the air
Seriously, if the timber is a valuable species and you want to save it I'd be looking at how bad the infestation and go from there, if it was bad I'd be thinking about wether I can cut it up such that I can salvage something out of it, if it's not so bad maybe some termite treatment, just a few thoughts

Once you remove the timber from contact with the ground and the termites' mud tunnels, they will very quickly leave the timber. It is then just a matter of saving what you can.
Termites need to be in contact with the ground to survive.____________________________________________________________

david grays' ant and termite spray available from the big green shed.the only problem with this stuff,it's very potent and i'd be concerned when working with the timber and the residual chemicals left on the timber when processing at a later date

Im a pestie.....unless they are drywood termites they will die off once that have lost contact with the rest of the colony.I would not bother trying to "treat"them at all

Have to agree with Da bunny lover, get a pest inspection done on your property asap, once disturbed, they look for a new food source..........aka, your house!...

You are right on the money with that one.
I have amused myself a couple of times by throwing some timber infested with white ants across an ant trail. I took great (but rather morbid) delight in watching the ants drag the termites bodily out of the tunnels.
Any of the meat eating ants will do.
