Bought a 6'' Lucas off a chap a few months ago, in as new condition, no slabber, paid $5700 if that's any help.

Still toying with the idea - after just going up to where it is set up, by the new shad i am building ( eventually) and eying off the great pile of Jarrah and Marri logs that are still sitting there waiting for my tender touch . . . .

a 6-14 that looked to be in good condition sold on ebay a few days ago for $10,800. Item number: 130833362052

Phil, Rustynail picked up a steal, I'd say that seller either was in a big bind or didn't do any kind of research in Lucas resale. The resale market on Lucas mills is very strong - always has been.

I sold my 6-18 with slabber attachment, planer attachment, 7 blades and 5 slab chains for $11,750 when I got Bo Derrick (first model 10-30) At the time of buying that mill it was priced at $10,800 and I had used it for 6 years in my milling business at the time of selling it.

Don't let go of it for a steal, sounds like you don't 'need' it gone and it will always compliment your furniture business greatly.

I appreciate your input and you have made the very same comment that my management team said - I dont need to sell it - and it will be handy if and when I do get more time on her ( the mill - not the management team . . !)

I was thinking about starting to lust after a tractor . . . but might swing that one by other more devious means . . .

Just wandered back up to where she is parked in the top shed ( the mill - not the management team ) . .. and have made the decision to hang on to her ( both) . ..
Will give her a service ( the mill) - and fire her up again when the weather cools down a bit. ( both)

Now off to manjimup to deliver some furniture . . . and dream about slicing up some timber. .. . Mind you , I do have to go past the big timber mill at Manjimup . . . .. ..!

Clearly you and your management team have worked out that a bit of wood comes in handy .

In a commercial operation you have to work out where your best return is coming from. Against that, if you have an overriding desire to slice up trees, then you should do it. You may have to come to terms with whether it is a luxury and whether you can afford that luxury .

The saw was up on ebay. No other bidders, so went for starting price.
I'm sure if it was an 8 or a 10 things would have been different.
