Timber Companies
Hi,
I am just trying to help my dad out. Hes got 2 portable lucas mills 1 situated in maryborough and the other at Miva.
Does anyone know of any companies that are wanting any timber at all?
Hes after companies anywhere at Brisbane, Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast or Surrounds.
Thankyou Heaps.

He cuts to the sizes that anyone wants. The main ones he cuts are blue gum, spotted gum and ironbark.

Taddy, can't stick it on the forum, but go to my site or I'll PM you... PM would be better.
I'm located at Gympie and know a few places close to Maryborough he can sell anything he cuts -a lot less travel that way.
Miva - out past Gunalda?I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

It seems as though there is a few Lucas owners in the district- I'm from Hervey Bay
I'm pretty new to the forum. I thought I knew most of the blokes with mills about the immediate area but obviously not. I do a bit of cutting down Gympie way so would often be in your country Sigidi. It good to know who's about. As for Timber companies 'word of mouth' seems to be a good way to sell. Knowing a few local builders is also good. THe biggest problem I have is logs to feed the mill (oh and time) hence to be able to fill orders. As per thread 'timber supply avenues' I spoke to the bloke at the council yesterday who reports logs are worth more to them chipped then milled because they use a lot of mulch in the council gardens!!! Obviously I wasn't speaking to the bloke in charge of buying materials.

Yeah you must have spoken to a bit of a numbskull there footrot - there is almost as much left as waste when milling as there is in timber, so there would still be a good quantity of stuff available for chip and not many chippers can handle a 400mm log unless the council pays big bucks for tub grinders (something like $1k an hour or something ridiculous) also the milling waste makes great chip as it's all timber no real leaves or bark to break down quickly.....
Also had a great old chat with Taddy today on Messenger - the old man sounds like he has quite a nice operation going with his Lucas mills and access to a nice amount of tree's too (bugger)I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Use to be dads slave and carry his fuel, bars, and the hammer thing to mark the logs.
