    Default timber milling

just wondering how many cube people get out each day
    what sort of mill
    in what sort of sizes
    what sort of equipment
im talking about trees already barked in log dump or within 50m of mill
    mill already set up
logs 40cm to 70cm diameter 3m to 5m long 7 out of 10 with little defect
this is what i get with a 827 lucas and old loader with breaks sometimes
    4x1 1.1 to 1.3 cube per 8 hrs 2 blokes 1 driving 1 tailing out
    6x1 1.8 to 2.2 cube " "
    8x2 2.3 to 3 cube " "
slabing with dedicated 6ft slabber with 20hp motor 5 skip chain 6 chains then sharpen large logs 150cm to 310cm 3m to 6m long loader/tractor to roll and take away slabs logs mill ready to go except when needing to roll several setups
    3.5 to 4.8 cube per 8 hrs 2 blokes
these are average figures with .2 to.3 cube of assorted tailing each day

I'm not into sheer production - just accessing timber that is hard to buy or would otherwise be chipped or tuned into firewood.

I'm milling mainly 500 to 1200 mm wide x 2 to 4 m long using my BIL mill (see link below).

I find the hardness of the wood is the dominant factor in determining how much I cut.

If I can slab and stack 1.5 - 2 cube in a day by myself (I nearly always work by myself although I can use a forklift in the yard) in 8 hours I reckon that's enough and it's time for a beer. I'm not interested in wrecking myself in the process since it is of course for me just a hobby.

i run a lucas 8/25 and production depends on timber and location.

on my own loadign by hand with a cant hook cutting hardwood logs around 500mm i average about 3.5 cube in a day if all the logs are lined up and docked up.

with me and my tailor we have done 10 cube of pine in a day. logs were big 900mm and we had a loader to roll the logs in.

    all that is cutting 100 x 50 6m lenghts.
