Default Trees to be milled please - South West WA

Hi guys, I have a couple of trees (jarrah) that I finally got a clearing permit for, 800mm to 1m diameter, that I would like to get milled. (not slabbed) There's also a couple more Jarrah and Marri down from the recent storms I need to have a closer look at and see if they are worthwhile recovering anything from.

I suspect one of them will be no good inside, (has got like the 'fairy door' effect going on at the base - ie dead wood) but hoping the other is OK. They are still standing, and we are lining up a dozer to knock them out within a week or two.

This may sound like a silly question,
Is there any way to tell what the timber might be like before they are down?

I am guessing we are better off dropping them then cutting into the appropriate lengths for milling to see what they are like inside before we actually organise to get them milled...
(need a blooming bigger chainsaw for that!)

Anyone in the South West of WA who might be interested in slicing em up, drop me a message and let me know your rates. We are near Donnybrook. They have to be gone within a month.

    Cheers,

    Jo

One way of determining the viability of a standing tree is to spear the chainsaw in verticaly. The resultring saw dust will give an indication of what is within. This method causes minimal damage to the tree.
