How do you think they go with using aspects from other sawmills and sticking them into one mill - doesn't show any acknowledgment for use under license or anything???
As Carl said, probably work well in one location, but imagine towing a 6m+ trailer behind you to each 'mobile' job!!I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Blade looks strange with so many holes. Not really used to seeing a blade with that much 'missing'
Personally I'd not buy one for mobile jobs - just can't beat a Lucas for it's flexibility that way and for the production it gives along with the flexibility.
Although if you where set up at a 'traditional' mill site with the logs coming to you, day in and day out, I like the open-ness of it. How do you square up to a log? or does the log have to square up to the mill?I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

what do you think the pros and cons are of the mill
-

From reading over their site (obviously not using one) I'd say pro's may be;
- powered head movement
- powered board return
- solid rail to hold mill, very little deflection
- can do two bites for horizontal cuts, something like a mahoe can't
- 'open' log for ease of loading
Con's;
- it's a Peterson (just kidding, chucked that in to get a rise from Rude)
- not so portable
- last time I checked, legislation states if the blade is powered through the log you have to be registered/licensed as a 'sawmill' and that brings a whole heap of EPA type regulations
- not sure if the 'end frame' design is as stable as they say; would have to check it out
- not sure how easy it would be to 'line up' a log, does the whole mill have to slide to line up or does one have to slide the log
- can it be operated manually? once you add 'technology' mix it with an environment like a sawmill, it breaks down and if the feed can't be overridden manually you're stuffed
- price tag, that thing will be around $50K I reckon - that's almost 3x the price of a 10-30; will it produce as much timber as 3 10-30's in a day?I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!

Hey Rod,
weather report is flooding around town!!! Mary river has now risen to over 13m higher than it's 'normal' height, been cut off from town and lost around one acre of our 6 acres.
Rain from Tuesday mornin to this morning 52mm
Monday morn to tuesday morn 63mm
Sunday morn to monday morn 50mm so over 6" in the last 3 days just on our property - our bottom boundary is East deep creek and she is deep now
East deep creek flows into the Mary river and she is backed up at the moment. One of the two bridges in town to cross the Mary is currently 3m under water.
Most of today has been rainfree, but a small amount of rain now the ground is so wet and things are so backed up, just makes everything rise.
Apparently tomorrow is supposed to be much more rain, but ya never know how right they are about this stuff hey?I love my Lucas!! ...just ask me!
Allan.
