Default WA Derek Doak Timber Milling Open Day

    Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen

I hope this is the right place, happy for it to be moved if I have gotten it wrong.

This Sunday 12 Oct 2014 between the hours of 0900-1500, Derek Doak is holding an open day at 20 Lionel Avenue, Naval Base, where he will demonstrate timber milling on his new mill which arrived from the USA this week. The container was also back loaded with US timber including, Cherry, Black Walnut and Maple.
    Derek's details are

My woodturning club, Wandi, will also be there to assist and cook up up a snag or two.
    Sincerely
    Willy

    Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen

Woke up early this morning realising I hadn't down loaded the photos. Bit photo heavy, but here they are. The mill is unbelievably quick, easy to set up and is powered by a 64 HP Diesel. It will be road registered and will be towed behind his truck.
The demonstration log was a Marri, it unfortunately had some metal in it
    Cheers
    Willy

Interesting rig. Not a fan of the 4 post bandsaw but yeah it will do the job. 62hp on that small saw head will push out some timber. what size band does it run Willy?

According to Derek half the grunt is needed to drive all the hydraulics.

Thats very true Bob, my Woodmizer runs a 1 1/2 inch blade. I have 51hp up top but i will cut no faster than the same machine with 34hp however my hydraulic functions are twice as fast.
