Default Anyone willing to do a little job?

Not sure if this is the right place, so feel free to blow me away if it's not.

I figure there must be some people on here who could slice small slabs in half. I need a few slabs up to about 500mm wide slit down the middle. The only thing I have that would do that depth is a chainsaw, but no way to keep it straight and steady enough, and it's cut would be pretty thick. Happy to pay whatever's reasonable, can drop off and pick up (or wait) within say an hour of Melbourne eastern suburbs.

How thick are the slabs? Couldn't you just buy a cheap track saw and do it yourself?

I'm guessing he means slitting down the thickness to make one thick slab into two thinner slabs. Needs somebody with a bandsaw mill?

It depends how thick the slabs are.
<50 mm then it preferably needs a bandsaw mill.
Depends on the type of bandsaw mill will lose about 3mm of thickness due to the band kerf

    >50mm could be done with a chainsaw mill using a lo pro chain and bar loses 6mm due to chain kerf. chainsaw mill has no trouble keeping the bar straight and steady.i

Warragul Woodworkers Inc. have a band saw mill, they may be able to help you.

Their mill is at their old place, about 15 minutes drive from their present club room.
