I have not made a pencil as yet so these will be my first ones to try. I am hoping at least one will be successful.

This is only a small blade but have had occasions to do very fine cuts on small pieces. So really just to test the way I work and see if using this would be better.

One will be a thiner skew chisel and the other will become a rounded scraper.

Well Christos with the goggles like when diving spit in them or use MR Sheen then they will not fog up.

Pencil Kit I don't see any bushes not to worry if they are slimline pencil kits you already have the bushes

    The Skew lessons also needed

Candle holders well young married couples love candle light/lite/lit dinners don't they

Thinner Skew looks better suited to thin parting tool, I see new handles required now you just need shed time.

Oh the clamp I know where Mrs Christos could use it.

Well done see you soon after a well deserved rest

I almost forgot to thank the exhibitors and demonstrators that were at the show. I am sure we each have our favourites and try to visit and watch their demos mine is Stan Ceglinski mainly because of the way he engages people.

Today I met his wife for the first time and must say that she is an absolute charming woman.

    Nice purchases.

You will love those big Jet clamps NC.

I did a little upgrade of Veritas bits.
The Mk II honing guide and a Camber roller.
A wheel marking guage with micro adjustment.
I finally bought a Veritas scraper holder.
A set of router guide bushes.

I put an order in with Mal at Boutique Timbers for 50m of timber for my shed doors and picked up a few sheets of veneer for more cajons.

I fondled the big LN shoulder plane as I do each year. Then reluctantly put it down and walked away.
    Maybe next year?

    Default Impressions on www show

I was a bit disappointed with the Sydney show. I had been wanting to get to another WWW show for the last 5 years but circumstances forbad that happening.
I hadn't been to a Sydney show, so was looking forward to it.

So here goes with my view.

Drove from Medowie to Syd, booked into our accomm, then bused it to the venue.
Bus driver almost convinced me to go to Moore Park? as he was adamant that that was where it was. (so maybe there wasn't any info passed to the bus crews) Anyway to his credit he did drop me off only 1Km away, as no-one could see any signs for the WWW show.

Next error on my part was not pre-purchasing a ticket to get in. So joined the queue and met and chatted with a few nice woodies and the weather wasn't bad. Only spent 25 minutes waiting.

Once inside it was the usual mind blowing collection of goodies and gadgets. Although I was surprised with the small size, I was expecting a larger venue. There didn't seem to be as many stalls/stands as I had seen in Bris previously.

Had a quick look around and decided a cup of coffee and a sit and think what to take in detail next. Luckily I had taken my own lunch as the caterers were out of most food.

A quick coffee after the LONG wait, and back into the affray. Checked out the forum stand and had a chat with a few people. I'm sorry I can't remember your names.

Off to Cabatec to buy my jointer - nice deal on that and a couple of other necessities - now waiting for them to deliver my new toys.

I was most impressed with all the demonstrators, they are always super friendly and open. I also liked the ornamental turners, those people are crazy keen to work out all the bits that they use.

Overall I was satisfied. Not too sure if I would go to another one unless there was some other event in Sydney that was on at the same weekend, that would help to justify the cost of accomm, but that is my own personal consideration.

So my improvements would be: (in order of importance)
Catering - They could really use some improvements in 'time and motion'. Two people taking orders and money, and one doing the serving and making coffee just doesn't work. Improve the supplies, to run out on Fri mid morning of most things (pies sandwiches etc) just doesn't cut it for a professional establishment.
Signage - The bus route to the Olympic Park station and the station/bus station needs more signage. I was aware of the event via the forum, but I don't know what Sydneysiders saw with advertising.
Entry cost - At $15 adult, that seems fair. Especially with the forum discount and even more so if you scored a freebie. Leave it at this level if at all possible.

    Thanks for the show.

I understand there are reasons and politics, but from my perspective the show is a lot quieter this year and Moore Park is a better place to host the show. Good luck for next year.

There's a few years workin left ahead of this old dog yet, unless my 'sure-fire super scheme' comes up (a nice big lotto win!).
Might have to check out that retirement seminar next year ...

Was wondering why they keep asking me for a pension card, must be my good looks and grey hair.

    Lyle,

If you had gone to the forum lounge first you could have eaten your lunch with complimentary coffee amongst friends in peace and quiet.

I had a quick walk through maybe 1 hr - 1.5 hr , on Sunday arvo. Quite impressed, but thought it lacked atmosphere of Moore park?

But a 10 pack of fein timber blades for around $130 a new 'end'? for my festool hose ( old one 7- 8 yrs old loose in saw, hard as hell to fit over domi)
And the kicker.... A zvise2 for $270, why why did I do it? I should've got a nice LN plane or something, can anyone say the zvise was a good purchase?
    Kickin myself...
Had a coffee at forum stand and met a couple of nice fellas

    Cheers
