U-Beaut Sydney T&WWWShow update and Show Specials, etc
We leave Monday for Sydney. Taking it in a couple of easy stages after Pauline doing her back in for Brisbane Show and still not right.
I will be doing 3 structured demonstrations each day and Doorstop and i will be doing on demand demonstrations from 10:15am onwards throughout the day till 4:30pm. Printable demo Schedule for all demonstrator is available HERE
All of our products will be selling at the same price they have been for the past 9 years even though we had a price rise in 2006 and a big price rise again in January of this year, thanks to constantly increasing petrochemical prices and extremely high shellac prices due to catastrophic crop failures last year. Our special prices across the board add up to quite considerable savings.
As a bonus, if you have your Forum Members ID* on you there may also be a little extra something for you. Rest assured that no one will "get chewed out for expecting a little extra" when they show their Forum ID in Sydney..... Unless of course they upset Doorstop and it's then a given that the feathers will surely fly. Cantankerous old bugger he is.....
We look forward to seeing some old faces, some not so old faces and some newies.
Cheers - Neil

So no jokes about using EEE and trad wax on his head. Or asking if he uses Shellawax on his scone?
Chris will get me for those, but it's worth itLast edited by Pat; 10th June 2011 at 08:21 PM. Reason: Gumbied!

David - We offered exactly the same deal in Brisbane where was your voice then? We have done specials at Timber & Working With Wood Shows since the very fist show in Melbourne some 26 (or so) years ago. Without us going to the shows and doing such things most of our distributors wouldn't get any new business.
At all shows around in the last 10 years we have kept a bit of a check (statistics) on the type of sales we do 85% of our sales are to new people who have never see or heard of our products. Another 10% are usually to people who have purchased many years before from a distributor and had no idea how to use it so it has sat on a shelf in the back of the shed gathering dust and going hard or was tossed out.
The last 5% are usually to those who are at the show for a bit of a bargain, which is what the shows are or at least should be all about. Figures vary slightly for the last 15% but the 85% of new sales has been pretty consistent in that time.
Most of those who buy from a distributor don't buy at the show because they have plenty and will go back to that distributor for more unless they don't like him/her and go elsewhere.
We have never made any bones about specials at the show have always been open and up front about it. This is the only time we ever discount to the public. In fact we don't even deal with the public for sales outside of the shows. Our online orders are done by someone else and not us. We also frown on people coming to the factory door.
If more people offered discounts across the board or at least on selected items then maybe more people would attend these shows as most go hoping to find that elusive special deal.
That is what the shows were about from day one.... For visitors it was: Getting a bargain. For exhibitors it was: Getting new customers, showcasing your product and in our case it is mostly about: Helping our distributors sell more by getting them new customers and demonstrating how to use the products so that people keep coming back for more.
As you well know, we have given packages of product to demonstrators at various seminars (including yours), woodturning weekends, demonstrators/presenters at the Wood Shows and are also a major sponsor of the National Woodturners Exhibition and others. This is all done as promotion, from which our distributors benefit, just the same way as they do with discounts at the Wood Shows.
We are not undercutting our distributors as all of our distributors including you could quite easily give the same discount and better (if they were that way inclined) and still make a pretty tidy profit. There is a discount factor built into our prices and has been from day one.
Neil
PS We have actually had larger discounts at shows in the past but these are difficult times for us all.
