I went to the Brisbane show and I created a video and posted it to my YouTube channel. Includes lots of video of what's going on, WHat to expect and my own views. About 7 mins.
The video quality is not to my usual standard because I wanted to get it done, edited and published for you guys to see before the weekend.

Please have a watch and like and subscribe to my wee channel.
    Thanks.

I'm happy to answer any questions although we have visitors tomorrow so I'll be a bit busy Sat. It will be easier of you post questions in the comments in my YouTube channel.

    Cheers,
    Dave.

I just watched Dave’s Video, it’s good to see some of the machinery vendors present, but the lack of people is a bit worrying. I hope it was taken at a quiet time and it was busy at other times.
Its been quite a while since I have been able to go, but I remember the huge crowds made it difficult to get around at times.

Thanks, Dave. Much appreciated. Would be interested in hearing from any other show-goers as to whether the numbers picked up - it does seem very quiet.

Yes I agree entirely. It's up to us to turn up to this show I think. The organisers and vendors have clearly done their best to turn this event around in my view. If we don't support it by turning up then I assume we will lose it. Look what's happened to Adelaide for example.
So I hope people can report good numbers Sat and Sun.

DaveVman this is a common theme for over 10 years, the number of people going to the show was continually dropping so vendors dropped of
Some complained that it was the organisers but the reality is that it was the customers own fault, they did not support the show, this made it hard for the organisers to sell to the vendors to come back again.

This is a major reason for us stopping doing the shows, we loved doing the shows and meeting everyone but at the end of the day it has to be viable, looking at that video there would be a lot of very dissapointed vendors who would need more that a lot of convincing to do it again next year

The thing is that the video was on a Friday. A normal working day. I have no idea how many people came Sat and Sun.

On reflection, it has to be somewhere with free or almost free parking. The Maleny annual show is not short on numbers.

Normally friday is the busiest day of the weekend with all the retired woodies and school kids coming in.
Saturday is generally half of friday and sunday is half of saturday

10 years ago the Brisbane show was crowded on the Friday. It was full of unruly schoolkids on school excursions. I think they got in free or for a minimal charge. It was a waste of time going on the Friday. They used to run around the site colliding with people and really make it a miserable day for anyone interested in the show. It was like being in a pinball machine. As to why many exhibitors do not go any more, I have spoken to many, and it is almost always the same answer - the organizers had jacked up the site fees to the point it was not worth going.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

I went on Saturday, the numbers were much higher than the previous year. I actually decided last year would be the last time I would attend. I thought with the new owners I would give it another go The show has more options for people not necessarily into woodwork by may be tagging along. I thought this was a positive move but 100 % agree the parking cost seemed high.

I would go next year but I hope the organisers could actually put more signs out and/or the actual address on the website. The RNA Showgrounds is IMO not an address.

Doug there really was not that many school kids compared to older woodies who thought they had a right to be at the front of the que when they should also have bought their manners and waited their turn.
The majority of the kids were on good behaviour as they are told to do so by their school and the majority listened , we always found them to be very polite and always asking questions.

The site fees were really never a problem it was the extras costs that the organisers had nothing to do with , like walls, power, telephone, food that kept going up and making it harder

I can only assume the new organisers promised previous exhibitors that they would revitalise the show and make it work their time attending. People can see the products displayed at the show online and at a store location, it's demos that people want to see.

And advertising is the one thing that both organisers have failed to realise I'd the one thing they have FAILED at. No one knew the show was on - NO ONE.
