Till next year
To all the fourmites that I met and conversed with, it was very enjoyable to meet you all and share knowledge ad ideas. The next best part of the show was going out to Carba-Tec to have a look at the Woodfast saw they did not bring to the show. What a dissapointment, Woodfast have really gone downhill with this one, then went on to Hare & Forbes to have a look at their table saws and flogged the plastic on some gear they had on special.
As anyone that met me would know ( attractively challenged ) I tried the 54 yr old charm on the 20 something Jetstar check in chick not to charge me excess baggage. It worked, or she was feeling sorry for an old guy
Till next year or some of you at the Prossie Turnout,
happy chewin,
Crocy

Geeze you got lucky there.
I went Qantas & stood in the line for about 20minutes til they called our flight to the front, I got a young bloke & when he saw me coming with my haul, he asked the dragon next to him if they were "bothering with excess", she said "no."
Qantas allow one bag not more than 32kg, I had 2 for a total of 47.
CJ sent out the Prossie Turnout e-mail today.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Here is the e-mail that went out.
Hello Turnouters,
The Proserpine Turnout 2008 is on again and as usual it will be staged at Camp Kanga.
The date will be : 31st. Oct, 1st. Nov, and 2nd.Nov. (early arrival ,Thursday and late departure Monday are options )
Caravans and Campers are most welcome.
As usual all accommodation and meals are provided for guests.( you need to bring your own linen)
We have special guests lined up for both the turners and the ladies crafts.
There will be a mix of new attendees with people that have been in past years and of course the 30 or so who have been to all the Turnouts!!!! (they must be up for their “ gold badge” soon.) This is the 8th, what a show we will have to have in 2 years time!!!!!!!!!!! I know there is a “Mexican” raiding party coming up to drink our beer and help us put up the tents!!!
The team race will be on again, but with a difference, the winners will receive something a bit substantial this year and hopefully the results will be of some use to the disadvantaged kids.
David will be in attendance with his “turning toys truck” stocked with goodies.
Hopefully we will have our project there as in past years.
Application forms will be emailed to you late August and will also be posted on our website. www.proserpinewoodturners.com This will have the price and other details on it.
Please let other people who might be interested know about this. .
Hoping to see you all up here in Nov.
Regards,
Cj …………………….
p.s. Did you know that Vic caught 4 BIG Barra on the Monday after last years Turnout. I am sure he will be only too glad to tell you about it !!
Cliff.

Thank you for the clarification. Is it all turning ?
I'm not "special" enough to be into turning I'm aftraid, unless it's hard shiny stuff that attracts magnets
Oh, and when you come form Home Hill, Proserpine is Mexico or at least Texas....
Edit: Looks like a good weekend. Maybe closer to the date I'll have a hard think. Too much on just now...

Nup, some carvers, sometimes a scroller, there is a tent for other crafts for the Turner's mates, art, needlework, Pyrography, knitting, knotting etc.
There are always heaps of lurkers with cameras & eskies.
There is also a fair amount of timber swapping.
There is a shopping tent full of good stuff.
It is a very social event, they don't turn at night 'cos there is always something else happening.Cliff.

I really got lucky
[quote=Cliff Rogers;742206]Geeze you got lucky there.
Qantas allow one bag not more than 32kg, I had 2 for a total of 47.
Jetstar only give you 20Kg, so the old charm did work, or if you ask me missus, she reckons the chickee babe took pity on an old man!!!!!!!
thought I was her grandfather.
Been on the lathe non stop trying to finish the show entries and am finding a piece of Olive tree very abrasive on the HSS, but it is mostly finished now, shame the same cant be said about the huge disc of Qld Walnut, have give up on that untill I can afford some diamond cutting tips as nothing else can hack it.
regards,
Crocy

That reminds me. The brother and I were collared by the machines4U chick to give us the speil. Not sure what happened but I found myself running the inventory to see what tools and machinery I could sell!
If you see her at the southern wood show young fellas, run I say, RUN!
Cheers

John dont worry too much about Chris.
He lubricated fairly well with the red and amber liquide over the weekend.
He claims he had to clear all the dust.Jim Carroll
