Wasn't wanting photo normally Christos sets up a use at the show etc just noticed he had not this year and didn't see anyone sitting at the keyboard as normal.

If anyone thinks it is 'expensive' to go to the WWW Show, did you notice the Cake & Bake show at the Dome next door?

$30 to get in, pensioner concession $27, kids $25, 3 day pass $67 - a class and one day entry $230 (two hundred and thirty, not a typo).

On Friday I saw a constant stream of ladies staggering off to the car park with both hands full of bags of goodies. Easy to see who has the credit card and the day off.

Today a couple will split and go there separate ways one to the Cake Show while he goes to the woodshow with son. The difference is what they BUY while at said shows. I doubt there are cakes worth $4k as is a lathe or saw.

Oh you forgot to add the $25 parking to the $14 pension rate for wood show entry thats $39 before you walk through the door and when you only get enough to meet essentials have 6 birthdays in 3 weeks for family. I know its hard to see it from others perspective.

I know I do but I have my reasons for doing so often it because people forget about others.

I bought some TriBond Glue, a pair of Bahco 1250mm Clamps plus a 1/2dozen small Forstner Bits & a MagicCut Saw from Carb-I-Tool..

What a great opportunity for like minded people to come together and talk about woodworking.

Thanks to the show organisers and u beaut for the opportunity of a forum stand. Thanks Auburn council for the free parking a 10 - 15 minute walk away ( saved $75) . Christos you are a legend, hope you are on your way home from helping others pack up.

I bought an attachment for my sharpening Veritas guide, a DVD, a HNT smoother. I also bought a chisel handle from McJings ( $4 for a ferrule $10 for a handle with ferrule) which was customised further by "Doug" from the Sydney Woodturners into a chisel slick handle in exchange for a cappuccino. Thanks Doug. Thanks to NCArcher as well for asking the vendor of the slick to borrow it so the handle could be copied as well as being an interpreter of the design and being able to speak fluent woodturner

You can add my vote for Christos achieving LEGEND status!
Have just returned from Day 3 of the Sydney T+WWWS. I spent most of Friday but only a few hours today. I know the naysayers will bemoan the Show but I believe that it was slightly less content than last year but attendance and energy seemed greater. I spoke to a couple of high-end vendors as they packed up late today and all said that they'd had a good show.
My haul was

• 5 more Burfitt pliers
• a narrow blade holder for my Veritas honing jig
• a FREEBY reptiler ear muff and goggles......
• a Rob Cossman rip saw
• Aussie Oil
• Rustins Scandinavian oil
• companionship of the forum
• and a lot of good memories

My last memory, other than dragging a bl**dy great lump of oak to the carpark, was Big Stan closing the show with a concluding performance of The Woodshow Blues....

Well, I went all three days and I had a great time. Flawless organisation and execution by Christos as usuall. Thank you Christos.
Didn't buy much. A 1/8 Berg socket and a old Hermes push drill with a compete set of bits stashed in the handle.
Also got the latest 5 issues of AWR for $10.
Watched a demo or two, had a play with some shiny new tools and even had a go of the HNT prototype moving filister. Lovely tool of the highest quality. I had better start saving now.
Great to see everyone and have a chat. Good crowds on each day this year.
Also picked up a lump of Rosewood to make chisel handles. Will post a WIP when I get to that.

Pac Man and I were admiring some very large slicks with nicely shaped handles on the Traditional Tool Group stand. PM decided that they would be very handy for paring the tennons on his bench but being a thrifty individual he thought that a 2" handle less Berg he had at home would do the trick. He also had a nice piece of timber that could be turned for the handle so we went in search of a ferrule for the soon to be pseudo slick. The appropriate ferrules were located on the McJing stall and right beside them were some hardwood turning tool handles, c/w shiny ferrule for only a few dollars more than the ferrule. If only we had a lathe to make the handle more like the antique slick.
Luckily the Sydney Woodturners Guild were doing continuous demos on 5 lathes making baseball bats, spinning tops, bowls, bag handles and I can't remember what else. One of the most excellent turners agreed to modify the handle. Photos of the original were produced but weren't detailed enough so I went on a mission to spirit the original away from the TTG. No subterfuge was needed as the guys at the TTG stand were happy to lend it to us for a few minutes. Measurements were taken and the turning got underway. A big thankyou to the guys from the SWG. They even put a finish on the handle. And yes I returned the antique original to the TTG. If you need a small woodworking job done the Sydney Timber and Working with Wood show is the right place to be.
I'm sure PacMan will provide us with some photos of the finished handle.

Well, I went all three days and I had a great time.

So.....which was the easiest day to move around?

It's a choice of:
Friday: less adults I suppose, but hundreds of rugrats either standing in groups blocking everything or walking along dopily texting ("Eyes up dopey or you'll get barrelled!")
Saturday: more adults (a lot more?), but not many rugrats
Sunday: less people? but maybe less stock, tired vendors, and the in the arvo they'll be packing up

I picked up a little Camphor blank yesterday. Cored it today and finished off the outer bowl. Internal dimensions 350 x 100 (14"x4").
