Ok, Now that DJ has put his fireman's hat on and hosed everything down, can I bring some attention to my original inquiry which remains unanswered and unacknowledged. The relevant sections are quoted below. Surely the organisers would have this information. This is after all a big decision, not one made lightly, so all aspects including any impact on patrons would have been researched and evaluated.

In a nutshell: "What is the cost of parking a car and trailer at the venue for the day?"

I asked the question on 8 March, and just in case it was missed I asked again on 9 March.

It seems that there are those who are too interested in putting their own spin on things and either have not researched it properly and do not know, or just do not want to be the presenter of the bad news.

Since the Show has been held at this venue before, I am hoping someone can answer this for me and put my mind at rest. That is the only real concern that I have.

I do not think this is unreasonable to ask.

I certainly will not entertain the idea of bringing my car into the CBD on a Friday BUT I may consider bringing it in on a Sunday if the cost of doing so does not outweigh the discounts that I may be receiving for purchasing at the show.

I want to support the show; I would like to see it continue. Neil, you don't sell the big stuff. I buy the big stuff and also the small stuff. I think you are putting your own interests ahead of the best interests of the show. Probably I am too. We all look towards what is best for us, It is human nature to do so.

All I want is acknowledgements of my concerns and an honest answer that addresses them.

Doug cannot comment on the parking issue as I don't know, but for pickups, there was a similar system in place at the MCEC that was similar to the Showgrounds.

You got given a ticket when items were placed in the pickup zone and this ticket allowed you access to the rear delivery area that is off limits with your vehicle to pick up said items.
    Cheers

Thank-you, DJ, for a helpful response. Hopefully someone such as one of the organisers who should know this sort of stuff will respond soon.

Thanks DJ, once again. So if you take a car in on Saturday or Sunday it is only $14. It does not say anything about trailers though. I wonder if there is a surcharge for that. after all it would take up two car spaces, assuming you can find two parks in tandem to do this. Does their layout cater for trailer parking at all? It is something that probably does not become an issue for most events held there. Exhibitors have trucks and trailers, patrons usually do not.

It would make sense for me now to go on the Friday by public transport and then take the car and trailer in on the Sunday (I usually attend those two days), provided that parking with the trailer is practical at the venue, parking fees for a trailer are not excessive and anything that I buy on the Friday will be held for me at the collections area until Sunday.

Hopefully Liz can confirm those details once we all go back to work on Tuesday.

Now that all the irrelevant stuff has been removed I feel that we have come a long way towards answering things that were concerning a lot of people. Thank-you DJ for doing such a good job in cleaning up the mess.

SO if you have a trailer on, you must park in the freeway carpark, where it costs twice as much to park the car and a longer walk. There is still no information on the TWWWS site or on the links to Wilsons Parking that give any information as to if there is any extra charge for the trailer.

I really did not think it was a difficult question

Lets try again for the fourth time:

"What is the cost of parking a car and trailer at the venue for the day?"

    The good news is ......
"Monday - Sunday DFO Discount: Collect a validation ticket when making a purchase from any DFO store or food outlet to receive a 50% discount on your parking rate."

Hey Melbourne woodworkers ...... at least you have a show to argue about

If it is so simple how come you can not find the answer?

For now... I would hate to see it go the way of the Adelaide show.

If one person phones, thats one thing, if an exhibit oraniser phones and arranges a deal for the show that may well be another. DFO obviously have struck a deal. I know that other Wilsons car parks have deals for other classes of peope including attendees at sporting events. Everyone in Melbourne knows that if you park at Southern Cross Wilson parking on the weekend you say that you are going to the Footy. I am not sure of the exact price difference but I think it is $10 for the footy and $28 for everyone else who does not know. Why not a discount for the show?

Because the organisers may be able to negotiate a deal, I cannot. That is why I am asking them
